1932 Canadian King George V Cent

I pulled one of these babies out of a roll of pennies the other day. I'm not much of a numismatist, but it seems to be in pretty good shape for a coin of its age. Any idea what a US coin shop might pay for one of these?

Thanks for any feedback.

I got a regular circulated one in good shape for about $2 Canadian from my local guy. I'm trying to get a collection from 1900-present of decent circulated and I'm about 70% finished.

Did it look like this?

Should be worth around $6 in XF condition.

It looked like that except it was a one cent, not a five.

I think they're nice looking coins. Simple, yet still pretty distinctive.

Oh, I thought your "V Cent" coin was the roman numeral 5. I was wondering how you got one in a roll of pennies! In that case, it probably looks like this and is worth about $1.50 in XF condition.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about nickels too.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the feedback. A buck and a half seems like a pretty good score for a one cent investment!

King George the fifth, cent lol I know what you meant, but I see where the confusion came from.

There are few more valuable Canadian cents floating around to keep your eye out for too MG - 1923, 1925, 1949 (variety), 1955 (variety), 1965 (variety), 2006 no mint mark, no "P", magnetic. The last one is easily worth $100 or more, and there are surely more still to be found.

I thought the 2006 penny had to have the p (plated steel) on it to be worth some money?

The 2006 "P", if memory serves, is fairly scarce, and does demand demand a decent price in MS-65 or better. The "no P, no logo, magnetic" 2006 is worth considerably more though, as it is supposed to be on a non-magnetic copper-plated zinc planchet. Somehow some of the plated-steel planchets got into the wrong bin at the mint though, and the magnetic no p/no logo cent is the result. One recently sold on ebay for something like $600 in MS-65, and there's one listed there now that is graded MS-66 which will probably go for considerably more.

Edit - the MS-65 coin actualy sold for $951.36 CAD - wow!
